Are sagging and uneven floors serious?
A slight slope or dip in your floors may not seem like a big issue, but it could be a sign of serious structural decay, damage, or movement in your foundation. You don't want to wait to long to fix your foundation to prevent further damage, injury, or collapse of your home.

The main causes of uneven floors are settling concrete slabs, foundation heave, and failing crawl space joists.

Our team of foundation specialists at Future Foundations can help stabilize and level uneven floors, no matter the underlying cause.

Signs of sagging or uneven floors
Sometimes uneven floors can be difficult to see. One way to determine is to see if a marble will roll from one side of the room to the other. The uneven floor may be the result of the foundation settling, sometimes due to age of the house or shifting soil and/or inadequate foundation waterproofing.

Common signs your floor may be uneven:

-
Separations between the floor and the wall
-
Interior doors jamming or being difficult to open
-
Sections of the floor feeling bouncy or unsupported
-
Floor cracks

The Polyurethane Foam Solution

One solution we will explore is using a polyurethane foam compound that fills the space or gaps between the slab and the earth it sits on. First, small holes are drilled into the concrete, and then the foam is injected. The foam will expand to fill the space and gently lift the slab level. The great thing about this solution is that it's quick, causes minimal disruption and is environmentally friendly.
The Jack System Solution

Another possible solution is using a jack system. High-grade galvanized steel support posts, engineered to be adjusted to any height are installed underneath the floor joists and raised to their correct position to stabilize and protect your home for years down the road. This solution is also quick, causes minimal disruption, is permanent and easily adjustable.
